BWE Celebrates End of Summer
Members of the Beacon Woods East community came together on Saturday, August 21, to celebrate the end of summer at a festival held at the BWE Clubhouse. Dozens of families took part in the four-hour event, which was aimed at children 12 and under.
Participants were treated to visits from the Pasco Sheriff’s horse unit and a fire truck from the Pasco County Fire Department. A genuine Weeki Wachee Mermaid, Brittany, swam by for a visit and pictures.
The youngsters took part in arts and crafts and face painting, played games like bean bag toss, enjoyed a bounce house, participated in raffles for prizes, and received gift bags for all who attended. When the kids and their parents got hungry there were hot dogs, chips, drinks, and cupcakes for dessert.
Special thanks for the success of the Festival go to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department Equestrian Unit, the Pasco County Fire Department, and Brittany our Mermaid visitor from Weeki Wachee State Park. On the BWE end, Property Manager Carol Webster deserves major credit for creating, organizing, and executing the festival plans. Pat Doolan acted as Carol’s aide-de-camp and provisioner-in-chief, securing most of the food and other supplies for the event. Finally the event could not have happened without the help of the many volunteers who supervised activities, directed traffic, ran games, stuffed gift bags, baked cupcakes, grilled hot dogs, and performed many other necessary tasks.
Thanks to all!
